STAF LAUNCHES 2022 ANNUAL MEDICAL FUND CAMPAIGN

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with our 2022 Annual Medical Fund Campaign! Every year, we reach out to our loyal donors with a 2-page mailer filled with a few of the hundreds of rescue stories among our dog and cat population. We depend on the support from this campaign so we can continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming as many animals as possible; so we can provide second chances to those without a voice.

Our team of dedicated volunteers who prepared our mailing, stuffed envelopes, and got our campaign underway were supervised and led by some STAF alumni that also realized the critical nature of this endeavor. Surely a team effort by our volunteers, and we take this opportunity to thank all those who are faithful in your allegiance to our mission at STAF.

THANK YOU TO NESTLÉ PURINA!

A huge thank you to our friends at Nestlé Purina for helping with so many projects at STAF!

We enjoyed a bright sunny day, so we were able to utilize part of the team for outside projects and some for indoors. We were busy cleaning cat carriers, furniture, food and water bowls, halls, windows and many indoor surfaces. Our entry way was scrubbed from top to bottom, creating a beautiful welcome zone for all guests.

On the outside, the big projects were to rid one of our dog yards from weeds and overgrown shrubbery. Additionally, their visit was timed perfectly to spread the two loads of gravel that were delivered.

After all helping hands had every project completed, we had a fun time in the yard with Wookie, STAF dog extraordinaire. He greeted our guests with a warm welcome, (especially the guest who was standing next to Wookie’s favorite pole).

From what we could tell, Purina wants to make a difference in the community and they truly CARE!

A huge round of apaws to our friends at HighGrain Brewery for your partnership with STAF! We were excited about the great turnout at our first event of the year as they hosted our volunteers, STAF dogs, and our community friends in their Biergarten.

It was a perfectly sunny day and with lots of our dogs attending the event, a silent auction, and 10% of the sales of HighGrain’s Monarch beer going to STAF, we raised over $2,000 for our animals. We look forward to events throughout the year, and we hope everyone enjoys the Monarch blend since it seems to be the perfect recipe for fun, friends, and funds for our dogs and cats at STAF!

STAF SUPERSTAR!

Happy birthday to Luiza who turned 6 and wanted to sponsor two STAF cats as a part of her birthday celebration! Luiza and her family recently adopted two FIV positive cats from us, Paris and Morris, and they wanted to be sure they continue to support some of our cats that still reside at the shelter.

With a huge star on Luiza’s beautiful pink dress, we know she has the winning spirit since she asked her friends to only give money for her birthday so it would ultimately go to STAF. With her envelope in hand, this little princess Luiza, selected Diana, our little princess. Diana was rescued under a bridge on a busy highway and we are hoping she can gain mobility in her back legs. Alonzo, a magnificent boy who lives in our feline leukemia sanctuary, loves to play with his kitty mates, but he also enjoys settling down for some one-on-one storytelling time (he is probably hoping he will be in the book since it is all about the STAF rescue animals).

We are so grateful to Luiza and her family for being a wonderful part of our STAF family and Luiza, you truly are a Star!

A huge shoutout to our friends at Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa for their many years of collaboration, hosting so many of our STAF dogs! While our dogs at the shelter indeed get playtime with our volunteers, we are very grateful for the opportunity to send our most active dogs for a fun-filled day with lots of other dogs. After our dogs pass their evaluation, they are ready for a day of enrichment and socialization as they are in a friendly and safe environment.

Whether they are swimming in a little pool, romping in the yard, or learning some new tricks, we know our dogs are spending quality time at daycare. The dogs are always supervised by their highly trained staff, and we get report cards on their performance to ensure they are thriving in this active environment. And now, with some additional fundraising on our part, we are committed to ensuring that our STAF dogs get every chance for socialization and activities, so they can put their best paw forward in preparation for their forever homes!
