Why Adopt from STAF?

At STAF, we believe every animal deserves safety, love, and a second chance. Our shelter cares for more than 300 cats and 50 dogs at any given time, each waiting for a forever family. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, we’ve placed thousands of animals in happy homes across the region.

Socialization & Enrichment

Our animals interact daily with caring volunteers who provide attention, playtime, and enrichment to help them thrive.

Individualized Care

Every cat and dog receives a vet exam, vaccines, testing, microchip, and spay/neuter, as needed. Dogs may also receive specialized training and one-on-one time, while cats enjoy unique programs like our Care Corp and BFF buddy system.

Personalized Matching

We take time to understand each adopter’s home, lifestyle, and preferences to help match you with the right dog or cat.

Adoption Quick Facts

  • All adoptions are by appointment only.
  • You must be 21 or older to adopt.
  • Dogs require a $275 adoption fee. Adoptions within a 30-mile radius of Cincinnati.
  • Cats require a $40 adoption fee. Adoptions within a 150-mile radius of Cincinnati.
  • Same-day adoptions are not available; our process ensures the best match for you and the cat or dog. At least one return visit is required.
  • All cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines.
  • Please allow 24-48 hours for a volunteer to follow-up after your application has been submitted.
