STAF is a very unique organization in many ways. We have no paid employees and receive no government funding. We fund ourselves, care for the animals, and run our non-profit organization with approximately 400 volunteers.  With no salaries to pay, all fund raising and donation dollars go directly to support the animals.

To say the volunteers at our shelter are “special” in their devotion, does not begin describe their degree of care and dedication to the animals and STAF’s mission.

Volunteer activities include daily care of the animals (i.e., feeding, cleaning, playing, grooming), fund raising, serving on the board of directors, obedience training for dogs, socialization of the cats, upkeep of the building and grounds, adoption activities, and working with community groups and schools in promoting humane education.  Volunteers also perform all administrative tasks involved in running a financially sound and secure non-profit.

If you would like to learn more about volunteering at STAF, please plan to attend one of the cat or dog volunteer orientations that are held weekly.  This orientation gives you an overall introduction to the shelter and is your starting point for any volunteer involvement. We look forward to meeting you – we know you will find volunteering at STAF a very fulfilling experience.

Please note, you must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.

Please see our event calendar for cat orientation dates and times. Please contact sherri@staf.org for details about dog volunteer orientation.

If you are not able to donate your time, there are so many other ways you can make a difference in the lives of Cincinnati animals. Thank you!
