Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
Save The Animals Foundation (“STAF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit staf.org, submit a form, make a donation, register for an event, subscribe to communications, or otherwise interact with us.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect information that you voluntarily provide through our website or other interactions with STAF. Depending on the form or service, this may include:
- Your name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number;
- Information submitted with an adoption, volunteer, membership, sponsorship, event, or other application;
- Household, animal-preference, availability, reference, or similar information relevant to your request;
- Newsletter and communication preferences;
- Donation amount, frequency, designation, tribute information, and related donor information;
- Messages, attachments, and other information you choose to provide; and
- Any other information requested by the applicable form.
Please do not provide sensitive information that is not necessary for the purpose of the form.
Donations and Payment Information
Online donations are processed through DonorPerfect and its payment-service providers. When you make a donation, your donor and transaction information is transmitted to these providers so that they can process the payment, maintain donation records, issue receipts, prevent fraud, and administer recurring donations.
Full payment-card or bank-account credentials are handled by the applicable payment provider. STAF receives donor and transaction records but does not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
DonorPerfect’s privacy practices are described in its Privacy Policy.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the website, STAF and its service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:
- Your IP address;
- Browser, device, and operating-system information;
- Pages visited and actions taken;
- Referring and destination pages;
- Date, time, and approximate location derived from an IP address; and
- Security, diagnostic, and error-log information.
We use this information to operate the website, maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and understand how visitors use the site.
STAF has configured its Gravity Forms forms not to store submitters’ IP addresses within the corresponding form entries. However, an IP address may still be processed temporarily by our hosting, security, spam-prevention, analytics, and other service providers.

- Communicate about animals, programs, events, donations, and volunteer opportunities;
- Send newsletters or other communications you request;

3. Gravity Forms
We use Gravity Forms to collect information submitted through forms on this website. Gravity Forms entries are stored in STAF’s WordPress website database and may also be sent to authorized STAF volunteers or service providers through form notifications or configured integrations.
STAF has disabled the storage of IP addresses within Gravity Forms entries. We have also enabled Gravity Forms’ integration with WordPress’s personal-data export and erasure tools.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files placed on your device that help websites operate, remember preferences, measure usage, and provide integrated services.
Our cookie preference center may organize cookies into the following categories:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for core website functions, security, form operation, and recording privacy choices. These cannot be disabled through the preference center.
- Functionality Cookies: Support optional features and remember visitor preferences.
- Analytics Cookies: Help us understand website use and improve performance. These may include Google Analytics cookies and Microsoft Application Insights cookies used by the embedded DonorPerfect donation form.
- Advertisement Cookies: Used for advertising or campaign measurement if STAF enables such services. STAF may not currently use cookies in every category displayed in the preference center.
Where consent is required or requested, you can accept, reject, or change your selection for nonessential cookies through the Cookie Preferences link in the website footer. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking some cookies may affect website functionality.
The cookie preference center provides the most current list of cookies, providers, purposes, and retention periods detected on the website.
5. Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are visited and how visitors navigate between them. Google may receive information including cookie identifiers, device and browser information, usage activity, and IP-derived location information.
Analytics cookies are subject to the choices available through our cookie preference center. Additional information is available in the Google Privacy Policy.
The DonorPerfect donation form may also use Microsoft Application Insights to collect performance and usage telemetry. Application Insights may use anonymous browser and session identifiers such as ai_user and ai_session.
6. reCAPTCHA
Forms on our website may be protected by Google reCAPTCHA to identify and prevent spam, fraud, and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA may collect technical and interaction information and transmit it to Google for security analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
7. Embedded Content and External Websites
The website may contain embedded content or links to websites operated by third parties, such as videos, maps, donation forms, event services, social networks, or animal-listing platforms.
Embedded content may behave as though you visited the third party’s website directly. The third party may collect information, use cookies, and monitor your interaction according to its own privacy policy. STAF does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites or services.
8. How We Disclose Information
STAF does not sell or rent personal information or donor lists.
We may disclose personal information to:
- Website hosting, maintenance, security, and technical-service providers;
- DonorPerfect and payment-service providers;
- Email and communication providers;
- Analytics, spam-prevention, and fraud-prevention providers;
- Authorized STAF volunteers who need the information to perform their responsibilities;
- Event, application, adoption, or other service providers when necessary to fulfill your request;
- Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors, insurers, and legal counsel;
- Government agencies, courts, or other parties when required by law; and
- Other parties when authorized by you or disclosed at the time of collection.
These providers may use information only as permitted by their agreements with STAF and applicable law.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect STAF, our animals, volunteers, visitors, systems, or the rights and safety of another person.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to satisfy applicable operational, legal, tax, accounting, reporting, security, and recordkeeping requirements.
Retention periods may differ depending on the information involved. For example:
- Form submissions may be retained while the associated inquiry, application, registration, or activity remains active and for an appropriate period afterward;
- Donor and transaction records may be retained to maintain donation history and satisfy tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal requirements;
- Newsletter information may be retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to suppression records needed to honor the request;
- Security and technical logs may be retained for shorter periods appropriate to security and troubleshooting; and
- Backup copies may remain temporarily until overwritten through the ordinary backup cycle.
When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.
10. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request that STAF:
- Confirm whether we hold personal information about you;
- Provide access to or a copy of that information;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete information;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Provide information in a portable format; or
- Honor withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
You may also request changes to your communication preferences.
To submit a request, contact info@staf.org. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request. We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including when information must be retained for legal, tax, accounting, security, or transaction-record purposes.
Because some information is maintained by service providers such as DonorPerfect, fulfilling a request may require coordination with those providers.
11. Security
STAF uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. However, no internet transmission, website, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If you believe information you provided to STAF has been compromised, please contact us promptly at info@staf.org.
12. Children’s Privacy
The website is not directed to children under 13, and STAF does not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through the website, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal obligations. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
Material changes may also be communicated through the website or by another appropriate method where required.
