Volunteer with Cats at Save The Animals Foundation
Every shift you spend with our cats gives them more than clean bowls and cozy beds—it gives them comfort, confidence, and a better chance at finding their forever home.

A Calm Space, One Cat at a Time
Behind every clean playpen and quiet room is a cat learning to trust again. Your presence helps create a calm, predictable environment where shy cats come out of hiding, playful ones burn off energy, and every cat gets the attention they need to feel safe and loved.
Please note you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.

What Cat Volunteers Do
As a Cat Volunteer at STAF, you’ll play an essential role in caring for the nearly 300 cats that call our shelter home. From energetic kittens to shy seniors, each cat relies on volunteers to feel safe, seen, and supported. Typical responsibilities include:
- Feeding and watering
- Cleaning litter boxes and floors
- Washing bowls, dishes, and laundry
- Socializing and brushing cats
- Reporting any signs of illness or changes in behavior
- Additional Committee opportunities always an option!

Volunteer Schedule & Commitment
STAF cat volunteers work at least one consistent weekly shift, typically about 3 hours long. Shifts are available every morning and evening, 7 days a week. Even a few hours a week helps us keep our shelter clean, calm, and welcoming for the cats who live here.
We ask that volunteers:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be able to bend, sweep, and lift light items
- Commit to a regular schedule
- Dress comfortably and expect to get furry!

Why It Matters
Our cats come from all kinds of backgrounds—some abandoned, some ill, others just out of chances. Volunteers give them the consistency, care, and connection they need to heal and prepare for adoption. Whether you’re scooping litter, delivering a tasty meal, or just offering a lap to sit on, you’re part of the reason they get a second chance.

How to Get Started
Before you can begin volunteering, you’ll need to attend a Cat Volunteer Orientation. This one-time session introduces you to our shelter, our procedures, and our feline residents, and sets you up for success in your role.
You must pre-register for an orientation. Please do not drop in. Also please note you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.
We list upcoming cat orientation dates on our Volunteer Orientation Calendar. To reserve your spot, please submit your Volunteer Application at least 24 hours in advance.
We will ask that you complete a Release Form prior to the orientation.
At orientation:
- Be prepared to choose a shift
- Come dressed for hands-on work (this is a fur-friendly environment!)
- Get ready to meet some amazing cats and co-volunteers!
Ready to Join the Team?
